About West Oso
West Oso ISD is a single campus district comprised of four campuses plus an alternative center.

The schools are:
• John F. Kennedy Elementary School
• West Oso Elementary School
• West Oso Middle School
• West Oso High School

West Oso ISD is located on the northwest side of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Student enrollment currently stands at approximately 2,064.

The factors that impact student performance are:

Mission & Vision Statement
The mission of the District shall be to ensure that all children have access to a quality education that enables them to achieve their full potential and to participate fully now and in the future in the social, economic and educational opportunities in our state and nation.

The mission is grounded on the conviction that a general diffusion of knowledge is essential for the welfare of Texas and for the preservation of the liberties and rights of Texas citizens.

The mission is further grounded on the conviction that a successful public education system is directly related to a strong,dedicated and supportive family and that parental involvement in the school is essential for the maximum educational achievement of a child.

Vision Statement

The West Oso Independent School District is a student performance driven organization that values each individuals abilities and needs in the learning community. Our students will have academic and life related skills necessary to be productive and responsible members of society. Students will be afforded the opportunity to obtain a well rounded education with the parents and staff working together using traditional and new technological teaching methods in a safe and orderly learning and working environment.
West Oso ISD History
The West Oso Independent School District doors were first opened in 1884, in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1916, the increased enrollment demanded another school building.

John F. Kennedy opened in 1964. The new John F. Kennedy is now located at 1102 Villarreal Drive Corpus Christi Tx. 78416.

West Oso Elementary on Cliff Maus opened its doors in the fall of 2000, and the school houses grades 2-5.

In the fall of 1969 the campus on Bear Lane opened its doors as West Oso High School being Al Smith the West Oso ISD Superintendent.

It was converted to West Oso Jr. High School for the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year housing students in grades 6-8.

West Oso High School on Flato Road opened its doors in May of 2008 and houses grades 9-12.
