About Us
West Oso ISD is a single campus district comprised of four campuses plus an alternative center. The District has a PK-1st primary campus, 2nd - 5th grade elementary campus, 6th-8th grade middle school campus and 9th - 12th grade high school campus. The community, school board, teachers, and administrators have very high expectations for all students. The schools are:
• John F. Kennedy Elementary School
• West Oso Elementary School
• West Oso Middle School
• West Oso High School
West Oso ISD is located on the northwest side of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Student enrollment currently stands at approximately 1,959.

West Oso ISD History
The West Oso Independent School District doors were first opened in 1884, in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1916, the increased enrollment demanded another school building.
John F. Kennedy opened in 1964, and actually the school houses grades PK-1.
West Oso Elementary on Cliff Maus opened its doors in the fall of 2000, and the school houses grades 2-5.
In the fall of 1969 the campus on Bear Lane opened its doors as West Oso High School being Al Smith the West Oso ISD Superintendent. It was converted to West Oso Jr. High School for the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year housing students in grades 6-8.
The newest campus is West Oso High School on Flato Road opened its doors in May of 2008 and houses grades 9-12.
The District is planning a new elementary school that is tentatively schedule for completion in 2010.
