Student Health

Welcome to West Oso ISD’s health services page. We want to partner with you in prioritizing the health and safety of your children, so this page contains information you need about immunizations, required forms for administering medication at school, Coordinated School Health programming (CSH), and school nurse contact information.

What is SHAC?

The West Oso ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group of individuals representing segments of the community and our school district that provides advice on Coordinated School Health (CSH) programming and its impact on student health and learning.

SHAC provides parents and community members with health information related to our students and families. We also invite you to become involved in our SHAC activities throughout the year. Our goal is to support healthy families and healthy students so they may have a healthy lifestyle for the future.

Suicide Prevention

Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities. Many factors contribute to suicide. The goal of suicide prevention is to reduce factors that increase risk and to increase factors that promote resilience. Suicide is preventable, and help is available. If a student you know is in crisis, please contact your campus counselor or RJ Alvarado, West Oso ISD executive director, at (361) 806-5911. Learn about risks, signs, and more important information regarding suicide by reviewing the flyers below.

Meetings

SHAC meets throughout the school year for committee meetings. Here you will find dates, agendas, minutes, and audio recordings of the meetings.
